APRICOT BARS
3/4 cup butter or marg.
1 cup sugar
1 egg
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp baking powder
1 1/3 cup shredded 
    coconut
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 jar(12 oz.)apricot
    preserves
 
In large mixing bowl,
cream butter or marg.
and sugar. Add egg;mix
well. In separgate bowl,
combine flour and baking
powder. Gradually add to
butter mixture. Add 
coconut, walnuts and 
vanilla; mix thoroughly.
Press 2/3's of the dough
into a greased 13"x 9"
baking pan. Spread with 
preserves;crumble remain-
ing dough over preserves.
Bake at 350 deg for 30-
35 minutes or until golden
brown. Cool in pan on wire
rack. Cut into squares.
Yield:36 bars
